Weekly Campus Crime Report


August 26, 2013 - September 2, 2013



Theft - Krieger Hall, 5th Floor Language Lab - Between Aug. 14th and Aug. 26th, two desk top computers were taken from this unlocked location. Construction was also being performed in the room and the security system was disabled.  Investigation continuing.


Theft - MSE Library, C-Level - On Aug. 31st at 11:55 AM, an undergraduate left his backpack containing a laptop computer and charger on the desk of a study cubicle and went to the restroom. The undergraduate returned at 12:05 PM and the saw the backpack had been opened and his laptop and charger were missing. Investigation continuing.


Theft - Recreation Center - On Aug. 31st at 5:30 PM, an undergraduate placed his IPhone and ear buds inside of a bag in a Recreation Center cubbie. The undergraduate went to the weight room and returned to the cubbie at 6:00 PM and discovered both items were missing. Investigation continuing.




Armed Robbery - 3500 Blk. N. Charles St. - On Aug. 28th at 11:41 PM, four students were robbed at gunpoint of purses and cell phones by two unknown males who fled in a vehicle waiting for them on Greenway. See Security Alert


 Theft of Cell Phone - 2900 Blk. N. Calvert St. (east side) - On Aug. 28th at 6:35 PM, a JHMI student was walking with her cell phone in her hand when an unknown male walking in the opposite direction grabbed the phone from her hand as he passed her and ran east on 30th Street. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

Description of Suspect: Male, Black, 17-20 years of age, 5'7" tall, 150-160 lbs., close cut hair, no facial hair and wearing a tight, light gray shirt, stonewash blue jeans and light colored sneakers.


Theft from Auto - 3200 Blk.  N. Charles St., east side - Between Aug. 28th at 10:45 PM and Aug. 29th at 11:39 AM, a student's shoulder bag containing a laptop computer was taken from the rear seat of his unattended parked vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle and a door may have been unlocked. Baltimore Police responded.  Investigation continuing.


Destruction of Property - 115 W. University Parkway, Old Carnegie Bldg. ground level parking - On Aug. 29th between 11:05 AM and 11:59 AM, the side window of a graduate student's parked vehicle was broken by an unknown person. Nothing was missing from the vehicle. Baltimore Police were notified.  Investigation continuing.


Burglary - 300 Blk. E. University Parkway (odd-numbered side) - On Sept. 2nd at 4:10 PM, a post doctoral fellow left his 2nd floor apartment. A roommate returned to the apartment at 5:00 PM and discovered the rear door leading to the fire escape was unlocked. At 5:20 PM, the fellow returned and discovered that his laptop computer and two speakers had been stolen from his bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.


When traveling at night use the Blue Jay Shuttle service at 410-516-8700.  Blue Jay Shuttle Vans are operational from 5:45 PM to 4:00 AM.
