Weekly Campus Crime Report

 

April 22, 2013 - April 29, 2013

 

On-Campus

 

Theft- Rear of MSE Library, northwest corner - On April 22, 2013, at 12:00 PM, an undergraduate secured her bicycle to the rack utilizing a cable lock. At 3:00 PM, a security guard saw the bicycle undisturbed at the same location. At 4:15 PM, the undergraduate returned to the rack and the bicycle and lock were missing. Investigation continuing.

 

Theft - Charles Commons, 4th floor (St. Paul St. Side) - On Apr. 26th between 1:30 AM and 3:55 AM, an unknown person entered the unlocked suite common area and took currency and a room key. Investigation continuing.

 

Theft of Bicycle - MSE Library, front south bike rack - On April 26th at 9:00 AM, a JHMI student secured his bike to the bike rack with a cable lock and entered the library. The student returned at 4:00 PM and the bike and lock were missing. Investigation continuing.

 

Theft - Recreation Center Practice Field - On April 28th at 8:20 PM, five JHU students left personal property on the sideline of the practice field near the fence and played an intramural soccer game. At 9:15 PM, the students returned to the area they left their property and noticed their cell phones, two bank cards and cash had been taken. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

 

CDS Violation - ARREST- McCoy Hall - On April 27th at approximately 12:23 AM, an RA making rounds smelled an odor of what was believed to be marijuana coming from a dorm room. The RA entered the room and located two male students and suspected marijuana and paraphernalia within the room. Campus Security responded along with Baltimore Police who arrested the two occupants.

 

   

Off Campus

 

Attempt Theft from Auto - Unit Blk. Art Museum Drive - On Apr. 25th between 5:12 PM and 6:12 PM, an unknown person broke the passenger side window on an alumna's parked vehicle and ransacked the glove compartment. Nothing was reported stolen. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

 

ARREST of Non-Affiliate - Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 3330 St. Paul St. - On April 28th at 8:08 PM, Baltimore Police arrested a non-affiliated 37-year old female who had removed tags from a sweatshirt, T-shirt and sweatpants and wore the merchandise without paying for the items. The suspect was given a trespass warning for JHU property and the Barnes and Noble.

 

Ambulance Transport / Assault of Non-Affiliated Juvenile - Eastern Campus, Ellerslie Parking Lot, 1101 E. 33rd St. - April 27th at 9:05 PM, a 15-year old non-affiliate was chased onto the parking lot by four males who struck him about the head and then fled from the property. The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

 

ARREST - Single Vehicle Accident -DWI - 3500 Blk. San Martin Drive - On April 27th at 2:00 AM, a non-affiliate's northbound vehicle veered into the southbound lane, struck three wooden guide posts and overturned in the wooded area. Baltimore Police, Fire Department and an ambulance responded. The non-affiliate was not injured. Baltimore Police arrested the non-affiliate for driving while intoxicated.

 

 

When traveling at night use the Blue Jay Shuttle service at 410-516-8700.  Blue Jay Shuttle Vans are operational from 5:45 PM to 4:00 AM.
