Off Campus

Theft -- 3000 Block St. Paul St., even side -- Between October 1st at 8:00 PM and October 2nd at 6:00 PM, unknown individual(s) removed a JHMI affiliate’s bicycle that had been secured to a wooden post on the back porch of his residence. The wooden post had been broken to allow the bicycle to be removed. Investigation continuing.

ASSAULT/ARREST -- 3300 block Hargrove St. -- On October 3rd at 9:25 PM, an off-duty Baltimore Police officer working for JHU approached a group of male juveniles at this location because one of the juveniles had recently been seen carrying bolt cutters. As the officer approached, the juveniles ran and were later spotted hiding behind a dumpster. A campus officer approached the dumpster and was shoved by a juvenile attempting to flee. The juveniles were quickly stopped and arrested by BPD. One of the juveniles was in possession of a bag containing bolt cutters.

Robbery -- 3000 Blk. North Charles St., west sidewalk -- On October 3rd at approximately 7:40 PM, two male undergraduates were walking northbound on the west sidewalk. Two suspects walking southbound passed the students and then suddenly turned around. One suspect struck one of the students with his fist and removed the student’s backpack and cell phone. The other suspect threatened the second student who then turned over his backpack and cell phone. The suspects left the area walking south towards 29th Street.  There were no injuries to either student. Campus officers and Baltimore Police canvassed the area for the suspects with negative results.  Suspect Descriptions- Two Black Males, 16-18 years of age, both were wearing red shirts and blue jeans.  See crime bulletin-http://www.jhu.edu/security/SIB_2012Fa02.html

Motor Vehicle Accident (Personal Injury) –N. Charles St. and 29th St. – On October 7th at approximately 10:00 AM, a non-affiliate was driving a vehicle southbound (wrong way) on N. Charles Street from University Parkway. The vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by a JHU graduate student at the intersection of N. Charles and 29th Streets. The non-affiliate was transported to Union Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries. The graduate student was transported to Union Memorial Hospital and was treated and released.  Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

When traveling at night use the Blue Jay Shuttle service at 410-516-8700.  Blue Jay Shuttle Vans are operational from 5:45 PM to 4:00 AM.
