Weekly Campus Crime Report

 

 

October 19, 2009 – October 26, 2009

 

 

 

On Campus

 

Theft – Olin Hall – Room 227 – On Oct. 20th between 10:00 AM, and 2:45 PM, a JHU faculty member reported she placed her purse containing a wallet, cash, cell phone keys, J-card, and various other cards, on a hook in her office. Later she exited her unlocked office and upon returning discovered her purse was missing. The faculty member’s J-Card was cancelled and the Olin Administrative Office was notified. Area was checked with negative results.  Investigation continuing

 

Theft -- Mattin Silk Roads Café -- On Oct. 20th between 8:30 PM, and 8:45 PM, a JHU senior reported that she left her purse containing cash, J-Card, room key, and credit cards on the table where she was studying to go check her E-mail. When the student returned her purse was missing. The student did notice an unknown male sitting at a table nearby before she left her table. The student’s J-card was cancelled and the Locksmith was notified. Investigation continuing.

 

Theft (Partial Recovery) Bloomberg Building – On Oct. 21st between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, a senior undergraduate’s purse containing cash and a blackberry cell phone were taken by a freshman student. The purse was found in the student’s dormitory room, and returned to the owner. The cash and cell phone were not recovered. The incident was reported to Campus Safety and Security on Oct. 25th.

 

 

 

Off Campus

 

2 JUVENILES ARRESTED --CCTV Observation / Theft of Bicycle – Unit Blk. of E. University Parkway (Bicycle Rack) – On October 19th at 8:12 PM, two juveniles were observed at the IFC bicycle rack break a bicycle lock and remove a bicycle. The two were located by Campus Security and arrested by Baltimore Police.  The stolen bicycle was returned to its owner.

 

Unauthorized Entry Pike Fraternity House – Ground Level – Side Entrance – On Oct. 20th at 11:00 AM, a senior reported sitting in his unlocked room when an unknown male opened the door and started to enter.  When the student jumped up and said “hey”, the male apologized, backed out of the room and fled down Lovegrove St. toward E. 32nd St.  The student did not know the individual, who appeared to be a homeless person.  This incident was reported at 5:56 PM

 

Burglaries (Private Residences):

·         300 Blk. E. University Parkway – On Oct. 23rd between 4:30 PM and 4:40 PM, a laptop computer, iPod and cell phone were taken from an undergraduate’s 3rd floor rear bedroom while he was on the main floor. Entry had been gained by breaking a small rear bathroom window; exit was made via another window which leads out to the 2nd story roof. Baltimore Police responded.

Investigation Continuing.

·         3100 Blk. N. Calvert St. (east side) – Between Oct. 23rd at 9:30 AM and Oct. 24th at 3:30 AM, a flat screen TV and a Wii were taken from a non-affiliate’s residence. There were no signs of forced entry, though a resident on arriving home found the rear first floor door ajar. Baltimore Police responded.

 

Auto Accident (Property Damage, Hit & Run)3700 Blk. San Martin Drive – Oct 24th at 3:16 AM, a southbound motorist lost control of an auto, drove onto a grassy area, knocking over three wood blocks along the east side of the road.  Space Telescope Building guard obtained identifying information.  Baltimore Police responded.  Investigation continuing.

When traveling at night use the Security Department’s escort service at 410-516-8700.  Security Escort Vans are operational from 5:00 PM to 3:00AM.
