On Campus

 

Theft – McCoy Hall ( first floor resident lounge area) – Oct. 15th between 10:30 PM and 10:50 PM, a JHU senior reported that while on monitoring duty she left her purse unattended behind the monitor’s desk.  When the student returned money was missing from her purse.  Investigation continuing.

 

 

 

Off Campus

 

Armed Robbery100 Blk. W. 39th St. – On Oct. 12th at 8:30PM, a senior undergraduate walking alone was approached by a group of three unknown males, one of which displayed a handgun, pushed the student to the ground and attempted to go through his pockets. As the victim stood up, his wallet and cell phone fell out of his pockets and were picked up by one of the suspects. The three suspects then ran east on 39th Street. No injuries. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

Burglaries:

 

Theft from Auto – 3400 Block N. Calvert St. – Union Memorial Hospital – On Oct 14th at 11:30 PM, a non affiliate’s vehicle was broken into through the passenger window, a brief case containing money was taken by person(s) unknown. Baltimore City police responded.

 

Student Fatality -- Truck/Pedestrian Accident (Hit & Run)3500 Blk. St. Paul St. (service lane) – On Oct. 16th at 3:22 PM, a northbound “super-duty” pick-up truck struck a junior undergraduate in front of the Marylander Apts. and then sped from the scene, last seen westbound on W. University Parkway. HERU and Baltimore Police responded. The student was taken by ambulance to Shock Trauma and later passed away from the injuries. Baltimore Police are investigating the accident.

 

Burglary (Private Residence)300 Blk. E. University Parkway -- On Oct. 16th between 5:00 PM and 6:40 PM, X-Box, Wii and two laptop computers were taken from the first and second floors of undergraduates’ residence. Entry had been gained through an unlocked 2nd floor rear fire escape door; exit was made via the rear door. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

 

Theft (Failure to Pay) 7-11 Store at 3003 N. Charles St. – On Oct. 16th at 11:43 PM, an unknown male asked for two packs of cigarettes, placed $2 on the counter, then grabbed the packs and walked out of the store. Baltimore Police responded.

When traveling at night use the Security Department’s escort service at 410-516-8700.  Security Escort Vans are operational from 5:00 PM to 3:00AM.
