On Campus
Theft – Olin Hall – Between June 24th at 4:00 PM and Aug. 31st at 8:00 AM, two metal & vinyl high-backed chairs were taken from the 2nd floor lobby. Investigation continuing.
Bicycle Theft – New Chemistry – Between August 29th at 5:00 PM and August 31st at 6:30 PM, an unknown person(s) removed a bike that was left unsecure in the building, basement north stairwell. A check of the area and with lost and found proved negative.
Off Campus
STUDENT ARRESTED – Weapon Violation (Alcohol Related) – 3200 Blk. St. Paul St. – On Sept. 1st at 2:39 AM, a Baltimore Police officer arrested a sophomore undergraduate who displayed a 12-inch butterfly knife and pointed it at a freshman. Campus officers responded.
Attempted Theft – Barnes and Noble – On Sept 1st at 1:11 PM, the general manager observed an unknown male take 5 Macroeconomic textbook from a self and places them in another section of the store. The male returned to the second location and was observed attempting to place the books in a Barnes and Noble bag. At this point the General Manager approached the male who dropped the books and fled. This incident was reported at 3:00 PM. Investigation continuing.
Armed Robbery with a Knife – 300 East 32nd Street – On September 2nd at 8:10 PM, a JHU grad student and a non-affiliate were approached by three unknown males one of whom produced a knife and demanded property. The non-affiliate dropped his wallet to the ground at which point the males began punching and striking both victims. The suspects fled on foot east bound on 32nd Street towards Greenmount Avenue. The grad student was treated at Union Memorial for a minor injury and released. A search of the area was conducted with negative results. Investigation continuing. Fatal Traffic Accident -- 39th and University Pkwy -- On September 2nd at 10:01 PM, Baltimore Police and Campus Officers responded for a serious accident involving a motorcycle and a van both of which were driven by non-affiliates. The motorcycle driver was transported to an area hospital where he expired. The accident is being investigated by Baltimore Police.
Theft from Auto – Unit Blk. E. 29th St.
– Between Sept. 4th at 2:00 PM and Sept. 5th at 1:15 PM,
a radio/disc-player was taken from the dashboard of a student’s parked vehicle.
Entry had been gained by breaking a passenger’s side window.
ARREST (CDS Violation) – Unit Blk. E. 32nd St.
– Sept. 5th at 9:35 PM, a non-affiliated male smoking a marijuana
cigarette in front of a private apartment building was arrested by a Baltimore
Police officer and charged with possession of CDS.
Common Assault (Non-Affiliate) – 200 Blk. E. 31st St. (north
side) – Sept. 5th at 11:13 PM, a non-affiliate walking alone
encountered a group of four males, 16 – 18 years, walking in the opposite
direction. Without provocation or saying anything, one of the males struck him in
the face. The suspects were last seen running east on E. 31st
Street. Nothing was taken. Baltimore Police and campus officers searched the
area with negative results. Investigation continuing.
ARREST (Non-Affiliate) – Discharge of a Blank Handgun – University
Pkwy and the 3500 Blk. St. Paul St.
– On Sept. 6th at 2:03 AM, Baltimore Police took up pursuit of a
vehicle in which an occupant discharged a blank handgun multiple times. After the
vehicle sustained damage during the pursuit, the vehicle was stopped at the unit
block of West 28th St. where the vehicle’s occupants fled on foot. Baltimore
Police arrested one of the suspects and recovered a commercially made blank pistol
(cannot fire real ammunition) that the suspect dropped in the alley. No known
injuries were reported from the incident. Investigation continuing.
Assault (Alcohol-Related) – University Market, 3201-G St.
Paul St. – Sept. 6th at 3:30 AM, during a verbal confrontation
inside the store, a senior undergraduate blocked a punch attempted by a disorderly
intoxicated male. A store employee then grabbed the student by the shoulders
and pushed him out of the store. Baltimore Police responded but the student did
not wish to file charges. The student was not injured.
Attempt Burglary – 300 Blk. E. 33rd St.
(odd side) – On Sept. 7th
at 2:30 AM, a junior undergraduate opened his bedroom door and encountered an
unknown male inside holding his guitar, laptop computer and a cup of coins. The
male, 18 - 20 years old, immediately dropped the items and ran from the house
and was last seen running south on Greenmount Ave. No property taken. No signs of forced entry to the house. At the
time of the incident, the student had five guests at the house and the front
door had been left unlocked. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation
continuing.
