Weekly Campus Crime Report

 

 

January 20, 2009 – January 26, 2009

 

 

On Campus

 

Theft – Shriver Hall basement – Between Dec. 30th and Jan 20th, a generator was taken from a mechanical room. The incident was reported to Campus Security on Jan 21st. Investigation continuing.

 

Fire – McCoy Hall – On Jan 21st at 4:07 PM, campus officers responded for a fire trouble signal indicating a sprinkler system activation in a residential room on 2nd floor East. Upon their arrival at the room, campus officers found that a fire in the room had been extinguished. Housing Maintenance responded and shut off the sprinkler system. No injuries. There was damage to the room and its contents. Fire Department investigated and determined that the fire appeared to have been caused by an overloaded power strip adapter. Fire alarm system technician responded. 

 

Trash Fire – Homewood Apts. – On Jan 21st at 10:00 PM, campus officers responded for a sprinkler system activation in the trash room. Fire Department responded and extinguished a fire in the trash dumpster. Student Housing personnel and Housing Maintenance responded. Housing Custodians responded for water clean-up. No injuries. The evacuated residents were allowed to re-enter the building at 12:15 AM. The cause is under investigation.

 

Theft UPDATE – Shriver Hall basement – Between Dec. 30th and Jan 20th, the generator reported stolen has been recovered.  A contractor took the generator without permission.  Plant Operations notified.

 

TheftAthletic Center, Pool Manager’s office, room 015 – Between Jan. 23rd at 1:00 PM and Jan. 24th at 7:50 AM, an unattended laptop computer was taken from the top of a desk inside an unlocked office.  Investigation continuing.

 

 

 Off Campus

 

Theft – The Den, 3327 St. Paul St.On Jan 26th between 12:01 AM, and 1:30 AM, a junior undergraduate reported that her unattended jacket containing keys, J-Card and cell phone was removed from a sofa.  The J-Card was cancelled.  The Locksmith changed the lock on the student’s dorm room.

 

 

 

 

 

REMINDERS

 

 

When traveling at night use the Security Department’s escort service at 410-516-8700.  Security Escort Vans are operational from 5:00 PM to 3:00AM.

During exam week an Escort Van will also be running from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM as a service to students studying on campus.
