Past SCOR MeetingsAt SCOR's beginning, a General Meeting and Executive Committee meeting were held virtually every year, sometimes at separate times and locations and sometimes back to back. This practice continued until 1985, when SCOR began to hold open Executive Committee meetings in odd-numbered years and General Meetings in even-numbered years. From 1957 to 1965, SCOR disseminated the reports of its meetings in the form of unpublished reports to national committees. In 1965, the Executive Committee of ICSU, recognizing that the work of SCOR was not well-known to the international oceanographic community, recommended that SCOR "consider publishing a bulletin" (SCOR, 1965). The SCOR Executive Committee responded by deciding to document the Executive Committee and General Meetings in the form of a Proceedings, and the first Proceedings of the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research was published in 1965. | ||||
