Sabreena Gillow

I am originally from Bangladesh, but I moved to America very early on at age five. I spent most of my life living in Dallas, and I carry with me both Bengali and Texan pride. Currently, I am a rising senior at Johns Hopkins University. My years in college have been very challenging, and I wish to go to medical school next year and continue the challenge. I am majoring in neuroscience because the human brain and nervous system fascinates me, especially the sensory systems.
I joined Ryugo Lab this summer to learn more about the extensive auditory system. Hearing is the one sense I could not live without, for I love listening to music and the voices of my favorite people. Even though I have only been working in the lab a short time, I already realize that the science of hearing is much more complex than I had thought. I am working on a project analyzing excitatory synaptic terminals in hearing and deaf cats. During the time I am not working in the lab or on my medical school applications, I like sleeping and eating. I also like reading novels, writing, and (hopefully) getting back into shape by running down the streets of Baltimore. |
