Eddie Kim

I was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up living in a US Air Force base for 13 years before moving to California. I am currently a rising junior at Johns Hopkins University, majoring in Public Health Studies. I am excited about working in the Ryugo Lab because of the research experience and opportunities that it holds. My interest in medicine began at a young age, and has expanded greatly since my arrival to Baltimore. This city has allowed me to experience first hand the reality of health care disparities and need for effective urban policies that have led me down a path to pursue both an interest in public health and a career as a physician. I hope that my experiences in the lab will help to gain more insight into medicine and develop the mindset that such a demanding field requires.

In my free time I enjoy playing any kind of sport, particularly tennis and fishing (if that counts). I can also be found wailing away on my guitar when I’m bored. My favorite pastime is hanging out with my older brother, who is currently in medical school and no longer has time for me.
