Luke Y. Chang

I was born and raised in Derwood, Maryland, which is basically the middle of nowhere in Montgomery County, MD. I am currently a freshman at Johns Hopkins University with plans to major in neuroscience. My decision to major in neuroscience was heavily influenced by my experiences in the Ryugo Lab, where I first began to explore the complexities of the brain. The brain truly intrigues me because it controls everything about a person -- emotions and thoughts, conscious and unconscious behavior (such as breathing, studying and eating), and sensations of pleasure. Through my work in the Ryugo Lab, I hope to learn more about what we know and how we know it, to gain insight to aid me in my pursuit of a career in medicine, and to become a critical thinker. When away from the work of lab and school, I enjoy playing basketball and tennis, as well as relaxing to R&B music. I also enjoy spending time with my family, especially my three younger sisters. We play a lot of videogames, such as Dance Dance Revolution and Mario Party 7.
