PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE Goodyear (01) / Gwinn (02) Perm. Req’d. S/U Only  Public Health Practice is a specialized training course for students selected to become members of P.E.E.Ps (Preventative Education and Empowerment for Peers), a peer health education group based out of the Center for Health Education and Wellness. The class will focus on knowledge, skill, and application of college health issues including: health promotion theory, social marketing, nutrition, physical activity, sexual health, alcohol and other substances, body image, and stress management. Skills include decision making, communication, assertiveness, facilitation, and presentation. Students will engage in public health practice activities which include outreach presentations, awareness events, community building and social action. A weekly meeting and two hours of service are also part of the learning experience. Students must complete an application and go through an interview process to be accepted into the PEEPs program.
