EARLY RENAISSANCE: FROM GIOTTO TO LEONARDO (3) Campbell   Limit 50 Painting, sculpture and architecture in Florence, Padua, Siena and Venice from 1280 to 1490, with a focus on how works of art influence and are influenced by the experience of urban life.

AMERICAN ART, 1607-1860 (3) Maynard American painting and sculpture have undergone many transformations from the time of settlement to the present.  Reference will be made to outstanding holdings at area museums plus the Homewood House and Evergreen.

ITALIAN PRINTS AT THE BALTIMORE MUSEUM OF ART Rodini    Focusing on early modern Italian prints in the BMA’s collection, this course will investigate a variety of historical, historiographical, and museological questions, culminating in the development of an exhibition proposal.

THEORY, PAINTING VISION Fried Readings in theoretically interesting texts on painting, photography, vision, the “visual arts”. Authors studied include Merleau-Ponty, Berthes, Derrida, Cavell, Benjamin, Wittgenstein, and Marin.
