COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION (4) Furr-Holden Limit 20    This course is an introduction to the salient features of Community Health and Community Health Promotion. Community health promotion is understanding a community, its health status and evolution, its needs and assets, its resources and activities and understanding how the community situation might be changed (and health improved) by action on the part of the community and outside experts. The course aims to provide students with learning opportunities that will enable them to be conversant in topics of community health promotion by applying basic conceptual models of community health to local health scenarios. Students will become familiar with resources, agencies, data, and techniques that are involved in a wide array of community health promotion initiatives.
