This course will focus onr the history of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the life of Baltimore City over the past 25 years. Relying on speakers from a variety of academic institutions, NGO’s, and government agencies we will learn about this history from some of the people and organizations that have forged that history. The format will combine lectures/ presentations with field trips. Attendance first day mandatory.

PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE (2) Gwinn/ Goodyear  Perm. Req’d.  S/U Only This course is a specialized training course/experience for students who have been selected to become members of PEEPs (Preventative Education and Empowerment for Peers), a peer education group based out of the Center for Health and Wellness (CHEW). The experience will focus on knowledge, skill and application of college health issues including: health promotion theory, body image, sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, and stress management. Skills include program planning, listening, communication, assertiveness, facilitation, and presentation. Application includes outreach presentations, awareness events, community building, and social action. Open to all majors but students must complete all course requirements to remain a member of PEEPs.
