Seat Pinpointer Tutorial
Egencia recommends each traveler completes their Flight Preferences in the My Profile section to ensure their auto-seat search capability is always looking for the best. Options include aisle/window; row; wing; and left or right side.
After a traveler books a flight, seat selections may be made for the flights just booked. Should seating be limited to less than desirable choices, their automated seat search steps in and begins a search to match the seat preference designated in the traveler's profile.
An email confirmation is sent to the traveler when a new seat is secured. If a seat is not secured, an email will be sent to the traveler outlining helpful hints for securing seats at the airport. The tool will continue to search until the flight departs or a match is secured, whichever comes first. As an example, should a traveler have a window seat, our auto-search feature will continue to try to match the traveler's profile preference for an aisle seat.
The traveler may opt out of the auto-search at any time if happy with the current seating choice. Current status of the seat search will be displayed at all times on the online itinerary.
Airport Seating
One way of protecting your seat assignment is with a timely check-in. While the seat assignment is initially held, the airline will confirm and lock in the seat only upon check in. This is why Web check in is recommended.
Web Check In
Most major carriers now allow you to check in online at least 24 hours before departure. Just go directly to the airline's Web site and check in there. Simply print the boarding pass on your home or office printer and take it with you to the airport. You're checked in.
Of course you can check in at the airport with an airline representative or with an automated kiosk. If traveling with luggage, you can still check-in online and then check bags at the airport.
Bumps in the Road
Some unforeseen circumstances may result in a seat change or in no seat assignment upon check in.
Status Seekers
To confirm your flight status or not to confirm, that is the question. No need to call the airline; let your fingers do the walking over to your laptop. Log on to your Egencia® Corporate Travel account before leaving for the airport and verify that your flight is running as scheduled.
