Conference Action Statements
A
crucial component of the Johns Hopkins International
Philanthropy Fellows Program is the biennial Fellows'
conference. These conferences are typically organized
with the help of one of the Fellows in a host country
overseas. The purpose is to foster a real network
among all the participants in this program by
gathering all the alumni every other year to welcome
the newcomers to the program, to provide a forum for
exchanging experiences, and to create a cadre of
people with a common base of comparative knowledge
about the nonprofit sector in different countries
gained through first-hand exposure to local
circumstances and patterns. The conferences also
provide a mechanism for foundations and corporations
that are operating internationally to gain solid
contacts with informed and able people involved in
nonprofit work in a wide assortment of countries.
