We designed this website to provide you with an
overview of Hopkins organizations, people, and services, and
answer questions ranging from how you can ship packages to your
student to which vaccinations your student needs to receive. You
will be able to find answers to questions about travel
to Hopkins, area
hotels, and things
to do in Baltimore. The site includes useful links to other
University resources that are relevant to parents so that you dont
have to spend hours searching the JHU website. For example:
For the Student Calendar of Events, visit:
www.jhu.edu/studentactivities
For the JHU Calendar of Events, visit
www.jhu.edu and click on the "Calendar of Events" image
For Student Storage Services, visit:

We hope this website will serve as a place where
you can network with other Hopkins parents, volunteer your services,
and participate in the Parents Fund,
a very special gift-giving program. We hope you will find it useful
and will consult it frequently.
We are delighted that your son or daughter chose
Hopkins and look forward to your involvement with the Parents Association.

Parents Association
The Parents Association is an organization led
by parent volunteers and supported by the University. Its mission
is to strengthen ties between Hopkins and the families of current
students by involving parents in campus and regional activities
that promote the University and enrich the undergraduate college
experience. All parents of current undergraduates in the Krieger
School of Arts & Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering
are considered members.
The Parents Association Co-chairs are
Neena and Suresh Shenoy P'08. Barbara Doty P'99, P'08 chairs the Parents Fund.
The Parents Association provides the front door
for Hopkins families, and provides a range of services including
Send-Off and Orientation events, Family Weekend activities, and
general outreach to the community of parents. The Association also
provides opportunities for parents to volunteer on behalf of the
University. Parents are encouraged to participate in several ways,
including supporting the Admissions Office in recruiting students,
assisting the Career Center in fostering career opportunities for
students, and participating in Orientation activities to welcome
new parents to the Hopkins community. The Parents Association provides
information to parents through Connections, a parent newsletter
produced two times a year with the Dean of Student Lifes
Office, through the parents website, and by email at parents@jhu.edu.
The Parents Association also is involved in raising funds for the
Parents Fund, a special gift-giving program
specifically for parents of undergraduate students. The Parents
Fund supports outside the classroom experiences, including student
clubs, cultural events, and athletic and recreational programs.
Gifts to the Parents Fund allow the dean of Student Life to respond
to opportunities for strengthening the undergraduate experience
whenever these opportunities arise and to meet unanticipated student
needs immediately.
The Parents Association specifically seeks to:
Involve Hopkins parents in campus and regional
activities that promote
the University, such as accepted student
receptions, student send-off parties,
and Hopkins Today programs;
Support the efforts of the Admissions Office
in identifying and recruiting qualified students;
Support the Career Center in fostering
career opportunities for students;
Support the financial needs of the University
through gifts to the Parents Fund;
Contribute to the planning of Orientation
and Family Weekend;
Keep parents informed of University activities,
policies, and plans;
Develop a closer relationship between the
University and the parents of its students;
Make the college experience a positive
one for parents.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Johns Hopkins Parents Association
is to offer Homewood parents opportunities for involvement in campus
and regional activities that promote the University and enrich their
students college experience, to provide parents with a formal
link to the University, and to make the college experience as positive
for parents as it is for students.
