Special Events
The Homewood campus is transformed several times a year by special
events planned specifically for undergraduates and their parents.
The first of these is Orientation, when new students and their families
are welcomed into the Hopkins family and introduced to university
life. During the Fall semester, the Office of Student Life and the
Parents Association sponsor Family Weekend,
a time for families to
visit with their students on campus, attend classes, sporting events
and student performances, and explore the city of Baltimore. On the
Thursday before Memorial Day, the campus is transformed again as graduating
seniors and their proud families attend Commencement activities. If
you plan to attend any of these activities, we recommend making reservations
well in advance.
Directions to campus,
area accommodations and local
restaurants are listed in each event category for your convenience.
Every summer, Alumni Relations and the Parents Association sponsor
parties to welcome incoming students and their parents.
Learn more about Send-Off Parties for New Students online at alumni.jhu.edu/sendoff/.
The University also hosts a
wide variety of lectures, concerts, and other activities open to alumni,
parents, and students throughout the year.
