Weaponsprohibited When weapons are available and tempers are flaring, in the heat of the moment they are sometimes used. Of all the weapons readily available in today's society, guns are the most unforgiving. In 1995 nearly 36,000 people died by gunshot in the United States alone. For these reasons and the safety of the entire campus community, the university has adopted a strong policy against firearm possession: The possession, wearing, carrying, transporting, or use of a firearm or pellet weapon is strictly forbidden on university premises. This prohibition also extends to any person who may have acquired a government-issued permit or license. Violation of this regulation will result in disciplinary action and sanctions up to and including expulsion, in the case of students, or termination of employment, in the case of faculty and staff. (See University Weapons Policy for full text.) Weapons policy violations are never to be taken lightly and should be reported immediately to your campus security office or administrators.
