Garners Support Transplant Research at Hopkins

Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Garner of Lititz, Pa., have pledged $100,000 to The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to support heart transplant research.

Mr. Garner, retired CEO of Fulton Financial Corp. and president of the Lancaster County Bankers Association, underwent heart transplant surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1986. The Garners said they are grateful for the treatment he received at Johns Hopkins and welcome the opportunity to show their appreciation through this gift to the medical school's divisions of cardiology and cardiac surgery.

The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the School of Medicine are located in Baltimore. The hospital was recently ranked first among America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for the ninth consecutive year and the medical school has consistently ranked among the top two in the nation by the same magazine.
