Job fair is in anticipation of potential stimulus awards
Media Advisory
Attention: Weekend Assignment Editor
WHAT: The Johns Hopkins University will hold a job fair to seek candidates for specialized science and administrative jobs expected to open up as a result of new research funding in the federal government's economic stimulus package.
WHEN AND WHERE: The job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Johns Hopkins University Eastern Campus, 1101 East 33rd St., Baltimore.
BACKGROUND: Johns Hopkins University will be recruiting experienced professionals and technicians in such fields as laboratory work, information technology, grants and contracts and finance. Most of the positions expected to open up require at least a bachelor's degree. The number of possible openings is not yet known. This will depend on the number of stimulus-funded research grants awarded by Johns Hopkins faculty in peer-reviewed competitions organized by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. The goal of the job fair is to build a pipeline of potential candidates so that the university will be ready to hire when grant money becomes available to the university.
Note: Registration for the job fair is closed and walk-ins will not be permitted. Job seekers who signed up in time were asked to report to the Eastern campus at a specific time.
