Security Action Plan
The Johns Hopkins University

Security Action Plan
Plans for AMR Access Control

Point 12 of President Brody's 15-point security action plan called for construction of gates and guardhouses to allow better control of access into the Alumni Memorial Residences. Designs have now been completed and approved by the board of trustees. Construction will begin after commencement and be completed in time for the fall semester.

Here are two drawings by the Baltimore architecture firm Ziger/Snead illustrating the design.

The first is an artist's conception of AMR I after construction is completed. Note the white guardhouse, with columns reminiscent of the colonnade between the upper and lower quadrangles. The guardhouse is flanked on both sides by a low brick wall topped by an attractive wrought-iron fence. The fence will include gates that can be opened in emergencies and for move-in and move-out.

The second image shows how the guardhouses and fences will be positioned across the courtyards at AMR I and AMR II and between AMR Buildings A and B.
