Announcement
See the FUSE launch live on June
24
The Johns Hopkins-built Far
Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer is scheduled for launch
from Cape Canaveral Air Station in Florida at 11:39 a.m. EDT on
Thursday, June 24. (The previously announced launch date of
June 23 was scrubbed because bad weather in Florida delayed
launchpad preparations.) If you're in Baltimore, the best way to watch
the astronomy satellite's blastoff is at the
"Let's Do Launch" event at
Bloomberg Center for Physics
and Astronomy at the Homewood campus.
Friends of Johns Hopkins astronomy around the world can follow
the launch on NASA TV, which is available on many cable TV
systems and is also
webcast live on
the Internet.
Because of weather or other factors, the launch date and time
could change. Launch status updates are available at the Florida
Today
Space Online web site and on the FUSE
launch status
page. Or, you can listen to the voice mail message at (410)
516-6525.
