RE: Johns Hopkins University School of Education opening celebration
WHEN: Saturday, June 2, from 2 to 4 p.m.
WHERE: The Education Building
2800 North Charles St.
Baltimore, MD 21218

A celebration to honor the creation of the new Johns Hopkins School of Education will take place on Saturday, June 2, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Education Building, 2800 North Charles St. In December 2006, the university s board of trustees voted to create the School of Education from what was formerly known as the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education. Originally founded in 1909 as the College Courses for Teachers, the new school builds upon nearly 100 years of preparing educators to make a difference in the lives of children. The school awards more than 500 master s degrees in education annually, the most awarded by any institution in Maryland. It is based in the recently renovated Seton High School.

The event will feature remarks by Johns Hopkins President William R. Brody and State Superintendent of Schools Nancy Grasmick, beginning at 2:15 p.m.; walking tours of the school s five departments; and a reception. Reporters interested in attending this event should contact Amy Lunday at acl@jhu.edu. For more information and to RSVP online, visit education.jhu.edu/events/index.cfm.
