Media Advisory
Twenty-nine undergraduates displaced from their New Orleans-based universities closed by Hurricane Katrina have been admitted to Johns Hopkins as visiting students for the fall semester. Of those students — 27 undergraduates from Tulane University and two from Xavier University — about 20 are expected to arrive on campus tomorrow with their parents before the fall semester begins Thursday, Sept. 8. Students and their parents will take an hour-long tour of campus, followed by an informal luncheon before meeting with academic advisers and registering for courses. The students are primarily from the Baltimore area, with a smaller number of the students from Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. Reporters are welcome to speak with students and their parents at approximately 11:30 a.m., as the tour ends and before lunch begins. To attend, please contact Amy Cowles at 443-287-9960. Due to construction, visitor parking on campus has been moved; for information, call 443-287-9960.
