RE: A conference for high school students on homeland security issues

Fifty students from 12 Baltimore-area public and private high schools will attend "Securing the Future," a conference featuring lectures by professors, politicians, first-responders and others in the field of homeland security. Students will divide into discussion groups to devise plans to institute homeland security awareness programs in their communities and then create a proposal for how to improve homeland security in Maryland. They will then present their plans to a panel of Maryland security officials who will evaluate and consider the students' suggestions. The conference will also give students the opportunity to talk to Johns Hopkins admissions counselors as well as job recruiters from homeland security and intelligence agencies. The conference is organized by Johns Hopkins undergraduates.

Participating schools include Baltimore City College, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Pikesville High School, Lansdowne High School, Park School, St Paul's School, McDonogh School, St. Francis Academy, Forest Park High School, Friends School, Patterson High School, and Calvert Hall College High School.
