Re: Election-related events at The Johns Hopkins University

As the election season heats up, Johns Hopkins undergraduates are keeping an eye on the campaign. The following election-related events on the Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St., are free and open to the public.

Wide-screen broadcasts of the televised presidential and vice presidential debates in Hodson Hall, Room 110. The presidential debates are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 30; Friday, Oct. 8; and Wednesday, Oct. 13. The vice presidential debate is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 5. Each debate will start at 9 p.m.

The Johns Hopkins College Democrats vs. College Republicans debate at 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, in Levering Hall's Arellano Theater.

In addition, a delegation of undergraduates will take part in a student political convention and debate at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Oct. 2 through Oct. 6, coinciding with the vice presidential debate being held there Oct. 5. Students will split into political parties, with Democrats and Republicans having mock conventions, publishing party platforms and debating domestic, foreign, social and economic policy. Johns Hopkins participants include sophomores Sarah David and Marc Goldwein, juniors Emilie Adams and Travis Crum, and seniors Hope Kelaher and Eric Wolkoff. The delegation is sponsored by the Political Science Department and Professor Joel Grossman. For more information on the student convention, contact Eric Wolkoff: edw@jhu.edu, or Amy Cowles, 443-287-9960.
