Re: Foul behavior of professional athletes and fans

The recent, much-publicized violence between players and fans during an NBA game made us aware once more that we may live in an era of declining civility. Does reality match perception? Are these more uncivil times than times gone by? What causes uncivil behavior? What can we do to foster a culture of civility around us? Johns Hopkins University professor and civility expert P.M. Forni is available to work with reporters writing about the aftermath of the brawl and offer his thoughts on such questions. Forni is co-founder of the Johns Hopkins Civility Project and the author of Choosing Civility: The Twenty-five Rules of Considerate Conduct from St. Martin's Griffin.

Contact Forni directly at 410-516-8047 or forni@jhu.edu.
