Re: Odyssey Program Presents the Renaissance in Florence and Rome

"The Renaissance in Florence and Rome, 1480-1527," is a nine-session class offered by Johns Hopkins University's non-credit Odyssey Program that will explore these two Italian cities by examining the major artistic projects commissioned in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. It will delve into the influences of the artists, such as Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, and examine the roles of key figures such as Lorenzo de' Medici. The course includes slide lectures and a study tour of the Walters Art Museum.

The course is being taught by Laurie Taylor-Mitchell, who has taught art history at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan-University of Wisconsin Program at Villa Corsi-Salviati in Florence, Italy.

These interesting evening session classes run from Monday, March 3 through Monday, April 21 and each class is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles Street. The study tour will be on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $174 for all nine classes. For more information or to sign up, please call 410-516-4842 or visit www.odyssey.jhu.edu.
