Re: JHU Odyssey Lectures and Tour Explore Federal Hill

"Baltimore Walks and Talks: Federal Hill," a three-part mini-course and walking tour offered by the Johns Hopkins University non-credit Odyssey Program, will explore one of Baltimore's most historic districts, Federal Hill. Slide-illustrated lectures will provide students with the hilltop's maritime, industrial, and ethnic past.

A walking tour through Federal Hill and Otterbein will include a penthouse visit for a view of the water, the vibrant exhibits at the American Visionary Art Museum, lunch at Cross Street Market, as well as colorful commentary on Federal Hill's architecture and citizenry.

Frank R. Shivers, Jr., author of Maryland Wits and Baltimore Bards and Walking in Baltimore: An Intimate Guide to the Old Town by the Bay, leads the lectures and walking tour.

The course will be on Wednesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus, 3400 North Charles Street, Baltimore. The walking tour is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost for the course is $118. To register or for more information, please call 410-516-4842 or visit www.odyssey.jhu.edu.
