Army ROTC commissioning
ceremony
Cadets in the Johns Hopkins University
ROTC program will receive
their military assignments at this ceremony, which also
marks the 85th anniversary of the Johns Hopkins ROTC
program.
In addition to the Army ROTC cadets receiving the rank
of second lieutenant, three graduates from the Johns
Hopkins School of Medicine will receive commissions
with the rank of captain. The guest speaker, Maj. Gen.
Lester Martinez-Lopez, is commander of Fort Detrick and
an alumnus of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of
Public Health. With 23 ROTC seniors in the class of
2002, the program has almost doubled its goal of 12
cadets. Ten are from Johns Hopkins, and nine are from
the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; the
remaining four students attend St. Mary's College of
Maryland, Towson University, University of Baltimore,
and University of Maryland, College Park. |
