FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Einaudi Named New Development Director for Nursing

Paula Ferris Einaudi, Ph.D., has been named director of development and alumni affairs for The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, effective immediately. Einaudi has been acting director of development since March 1994.

A native of New Jersey, Einaudi has been with the School of Nursing since 1988 as assistant (and later associate) director of development and alumni affairs. Before coming to Hopkins, Einaudi taught linguistics and Italian at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Smith College, the University of Colorado, and the University of Toronto. A resident of Columbia, Md., she currently volunteers as national alumnae admissions coordinator for her alma mater, Smith College.

As director of development, Einaudi will implement the School of Nursing's $19 million fund-raising plans for The Johns Hopkins Initiative, a joint fund-raising effort of the University and the Hospital and Health Systems. A portion of the funds will be used to construct a new $14 million building for the school.

"This is such an exciting time for nursing at Hopkins," says Einaudi. "Our students and faculty are on the cutting edge of research, patient care, and community health initiatives. Our new building will enhance and strengthen the innovative work already under way here."

The $14 million new building also will house three academic centers: The Center for Continuing Nursing Education, the Center for Health Promotion, and the Center for Underserved Communities.

"I'm thrilled to have Paula Einaudi heading up development efforts for the School of Nursing," said Sue K. Donaldson, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, dean of the school. "I am confident she will make a difference in helping us achieve the financial goals that will carry us firmly into the future."

Einaudi also will oversee public affairs and alumni relations for the School of Nursing.

"Paula has always been a great supporter of the School of Nursing and of the Alumni Association," says Patti Wilcox, R.N., president of the nursing alumni association. "Her enthusiasm for nursing is admirable and I look forward to working with her to enhance the legacy of Hopkins nursing."
