Music of Mexico at Hopkins
Los Mariachis de los Compadres will perform their Latin music at noon on
Wednesday, Oct. 13, in Shriver Hall Auditorium on The Johns Hopkins University's
Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles Street, in Baltimore.
One of the region's premier Mariachi bands, Los Mariachis de los Compadres has
entertained audiences for more than15 years with festive music unique to Mexico but
popular around the world. During this performance, titled "Celebrating Hispanic
Heritage: Mexico's Best Loved Music," band members will wear colorful costumes and
play fast and spicy mariachi music on traditional mariachi
instruments--bihuele, guitarron, trumpet, guitar, violin and harp.
Los Mariachis de los Compadres has performed at the White House, the Kennedy
Center, Wolf Trap, the Mexican embassy, the University of Maryland and Georgetown
University.
This performance is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by the Johns
Hopkins University Office of Special Events. It is
cosponsored with the Johns Hopkins University
Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.
