A Look at the Military-Industrial Complex,
A Talk at Johns Hopkins

John Rothrock, retired Air Force colonel and specialist in 21st-century strategic issues, will present a lecture, "Your Tax Dollars and the Military-Industrial (and Congressional) Complex," at noon on Wednesday, March 31, in Shriver Hall on the Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St., in Baltimore.

Col. Rothrock will update the audience's understanding of this powerful network of Pentagon, industrial and Congressional interests. According to Rothrock, this de facto conglomerate, due substantially to its increased Congressional dimension, is much more ominous now in its workings than when President Dwight D. Eisenhower first warned of it nearly 40 years ago. Rothrock finds that it thwarts the kind of military reform necessary to protect American security in the coming decades.

Retired in 1990, Rothrock spent most of his 21-year military career in intelligence and strategy in a variety of fields and Pentagon assignments including command of overseas intelligence units, staff officer in the National Reconnaissance Office and Chief of Intelligence Planning for the Air Force. His last military assignment was as senior fellow in strategy at the National Defense University, in Washington, DC.

This lecture is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by the Johns Hopkins Office of Special Events . Admission is free. For further information, call the Office of Special Events at 410-516-7157.
