Johns Hopkins Performance: The Persuaders Interpret 'Swing'The Persuaders invite the audience to get into the act and join the 30s and 40s swing revival now sweeping the popular dance world. They ll revive memories of Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Tommy Dorsey and will catch the audiences up to the latest music of Big Bad Voodo Daddy, Brian Setzer and the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Their songlist includes Take the A Train, C Jam Blues, In A Mellow Tone, Now's the Time, Lester Leaps In, Jumpin' at the Woodside, All of Me, Summertime and Jitterbug Waltz. The Persuaders, brought together 10 years ago by veteran keyboardist Jim Orr, have won a number of music polls and accolades from the urban press, including "Maryland's #1 R&B Group" in Music Monthly's 1996 Readers Poll. This performance is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by the Johns Hopkins Office of Special Events. Admission is free.
