"Music Speaks" is Topic of Wednesday Noon Series

Eileen Soskin, professor of music theory at the Peabody Conservatory, and Laurie Hungerford Flint, soprano, will present a lecture/performance, "Music Speaks: German Lieder and French Chansons," at Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Soskin is a lecturer for a number of cultural organizations in Baltimore, including the Handel Choir, the Walters Art Gallery, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She also performs as a mezzo-soprano, a pianist and harpsichordist.

Flint, whose singing has been described as "ravishing" by the Annapolis Capital, has sung leading roles in many operas including The Magic Flute and Postcard from Morocco. She has performed as a soloist with the Peabody and Annapolis symphony orchestras and the Handel Choir of Baltimore.

This lecture/performance is part of the Wednesday Noon Series, presented by the Johns Hopkins University Office of Special Events. All programs in the series are held at noon in the Garrett Room of the Eisenhower Library on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles Street in Baltimore. Admission is free.

For information, call the Office of Special Events at (410) 516-7157.
