Illusions, A Movement Theater Concert at Hopkins

Gateway Performance Productions will perform "Illusions," a spectacular movement theater concert, on Friday, Nov. 11, at The Johns Hopkins University. The university's Office of Special Events is presenting the show, which will start at 8 p.m. in Shriver Hall on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus, 3400 North Charles Street in Baltimore.

This unusual production blends diverse elements of movement theater into a visual and beautiful form. Using dance, masks, text and music, the artists perform pieces inspired by the folklore of traditional cultures, as well as our contemporary condition. The performers, who studied under Marcel Marceau, will also present classic mime at its best in several hilarious and poignant scenes. Their work is funded in part by Alternate Roots and the National Endowment for the Arts Theater Program.

Tickets for Illusions are $12 and $11, with senior citizen, full- time student and group rates available. For information, call the Office of Special Events at (410) 516-7157.
