2006-2007 Concert Series Flute and Harp Duo to open 54th Season The Evergreen Concert Series — one of Baltimore's longest-running chamber music programs — opens its 54th season on Friday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m., with flute and harp duo David Fedele and Victoria Drake. The performance will be held in the Bakst Theatre at Evergreen House, at 4545 N. Charles St. in Baltimore, and features music by Handel, C.P.E. Bach, Debussy, Bart¢k, de Falla, Jongen, and Persichetti. Tickets are $15 for Evergreen members, $20 for non-members. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended. Advance tickets are available online at www.missiontix.com, or by calling 410-516-0341. Complete concert information is available online at www.jhu.edu/evrgreen/concerts. A dramatic and charismatic artist, Fedele reaches his own generation with the immediacy of a media star and provides intriguing new musical insights for listeners of all ages. His outstanding talent has brought him to the stages of Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y in New York, and the Kennedy Center in Washington. Drake is a multi-faceted artist with a career that stretches the boundaries of music for the harp. She has performed as concerto soloist with over a dozen notable orchestras in the New York area, including Philharmonia Virtuosi, the Concordia Orchestra, the American Classical Orchestra, the Westfield Symphony, the Connecticut Orchestra at Harkness, and at the Vermont Mozart Festival. Evergreen House is at once an intimate collection of fine and decorative art and a vibrant, innovative venue for contemporary artists, musicians and scholars. Since 1952, the museum's concert series has presented more than 200 performances by renowned musicians and outstanding emerging artists in Evergreen's uniquely intimate Bakst Theatre — designed by avant-garde Russian-born artist Léon Bakst — and 1870s Carriage House. Audiences mingle with performers at a post-concert reception and enjoy a shared experience they won't find anywhere else. Funded in large part by the Evergreen House Foundation, the chamber music program continues Alice Warder Garrett's legacy of supporting established and emerging musicians, and inviting audiences to interact with them. Additional concerts this season include:
Friday, Nov. 10, 8 p.m., Carriage House
Friday, March 23, 8 p.m., Bakst Theatre
