Tom Stoppard's Travesties at
Theatre Hopkins June 16

Theatre Hopkins will close its 84th season with Tom Stoppard's "Travesties" in the Mattin Arts Center's Swirnow Theater on the Homewood campus of The Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. The production begins its two-weekend run on Friday, June 16.

The author of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead has again drawn inspiration from a masterpiece, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. In this case, the fast-paced comedy, set in Zurich in 1917, includes in its cast of characters James Joyce, Vladimir Lenin, and Tristan Tzara, a member of the Dadaist movement.

The production will run through Sunday, June 25. Curtain time for Friday and Saturday performances is 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15. Student rush tickets for $5 are available at curtain time for all performances, if space allows. For reservations or information, contact Theatre Hopkins at (410) 516-7159, or by e-mail to thehop@jhu.edu.
