"Powers of Ten" About Evergreen House The home of two generations of Baltimore's prominent Garrett family from 1878-1942, Evergreen House and its collection of over 50,000 objects were bequeathed to the Johns Hopkins University in 1942 with the stipulation that the estate remain open to "lovers of music, art, and beautiful things." Since opening to the public in 1990, Evergreen House has surpassed mere historic preservation to creatively respond to the Garretts' legacy. Today, Evergreen operates as a dynamic house museum, contemporary art center, and performance space, offering a year-round calendar of artist residency programs for emerging and established artists; lectures, symposia, and concerts; exhibitions; and educational programming. Visitor Information Inside/Out: Sculpture at Evergreen, is free and open to the public during regular museum hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Group tours of the exhibition may be arranged by contacting Nancy Powers at (410) 516-0341 or by email at npowers@jhu.edu. The permanent collection is open to the public through guided tours, offered on the hour with the last tour beginning at 3 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults; $5 for seniors ages 65 and over; and $3 for students and children 6 and over; and includes a Sculpture at Evergreen exhibition catalog.
