Theatre Hopkins June 10
Theatre Hopkins will open its final production in the Merrick Barn on Friday, June 10, with the classic American comedy, "The Royal Family," by George Kauffman and Edna Ferber.
Modeled on the Barrymore clan, the Cavendishes are presented as America's most prestigious acting family. For three generations, the Cavendish dynasty has dominated the American stage. Their real-life anxieties and intrigues rival the melodrama of their on-stage performances. Part high-spirited comedy, part valentine to a life in the theater, the saga of matriarch Fanny, leading lady Julie, and ing‚nue Gwen show us the humanity behind the greasepaint.
The cast is led by Nona Porter, Cherie Weinert, Molly Moores, Harry B. Turner and Michael Styer as the Cavendish family. Featured in the cast are Tom Blair, Jonas Grey, Carol Mason, Dyana Neal and Michael O'Connell. Also in the cast are John D'Amato, Robert Fanto, Bruce Levy, Irene Patton and Gail Shapira.
The production will run four weekends through Sunday, July 3, at the Merrick Barn on Johns Hopkins' Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. Curtain time for Friday and Saturday performances is 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 2:15 p.m. Tickets at the door are $15 for Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees. Student rush tickets for $5 are available at curtain time for all performances, if space allows.
