The J Street Jumpers swing band will perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, in Levering Union's Glass Pavilion on the Homewood campus of The Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

One of the East Coast's most popular swing bands, the J Street Jumpers' sound restores the classic swing and jump-blues of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, combining the swing of Count Basie, the beat of Buddy Johnson, the New Orleans lilt of Fats Domino and the passion of Dinah Washington. From all of these, the Jumpers have distilled their own zany brand of modern swing. Based in the Washington, D.C., area, the group is respected by the city's music community, having earned in 2003 for the sixth year in a row the titles of Best Big Band — Swing Duo/Group, Best Big Band — Swing Recording, and Best Jazz at the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) Wammie Awards.
