Theatre Hopkins will open its 82nd season with Thornton Wilder's classic "Our Town" at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, in the Merrick Barn on the Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. The cast is led by John Astin, a Johns Hopkins alumnus and faculty member who will play the Stage Manager. Two of Astin's acting students, Kateri Chambers and Loren Dunn, will portray the young lovers, Emily Webb and George Gibbs. Also appearing in the cast are Chris Graybill and Laura Gifford as Dr. and Mrs. Gibbs; and Michael O'Connell and Katherine Lyons as Editor and Mrs. Webb. The production is a collaboration between Theatre Hopkins and the Hopkins Studio Players, a student acting company created by Astin. "Our Town" will run three weekends through Sunday, Nov. 9, in the Merrick Barn. Curtain time for Friday and Saturday performances is 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 2:15 p.m. The rest of the season will include the local premiere of Michael Frayn's Tony award-winning drama "Copenhagen," opening Feb. 20, and Noel Coward's "Fallen Angels," opening April 16. The season will conclude with the June 11 through July 4 local premiere of Andrew Lippa's adaptation of Joseph Moncure March's "The Wild Party," directed by Todd Pearthree. Tickets are $15 at the door for Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees. Student rush tickets for $5 are available at curtain time for all performances.
