News Release
Perform "Bluff" at Hopkins Theatre Hopkins and the Hopkins Studio Players present John Astin and four of his Johns Hopkins University student actors performing in the play Bluff by Jeffrey Sweet, opening Friday, March 21, in the Merrick Barn on the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles Street. Bluff showcases Sweet's remarkable knack for balancing scathingly funny dialogue with realistic, gut-wrenching situations in the story about a young couple who fall in love while aiding the victim of a gay bashing. Astin and Studio Players Kateri Chambers, Loren Dunn, Brandom Nielson and Myriah Perkins are joined by New York director Jim Glossman and actress Linda Setzer. Astin, the Baltimore-born actor and graduate of Johns Hopkins University, has been teaching acting and directing courses at his alma mater for three years, and is helping to lead an overall renaissance of the theater program at Hopkins, where he studied drama and theater in the early 1950's. Sponsored by Theatre Hopkins, the production will be presented Friday and Saturday evenings, March 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, March 23 at 2:15 p.m. at the Merrick Barn. Tickets for Johns Hopkins faculty members, staff and students are complimentary. A suggested donation of $10 is requested for patrons outside the University. Tickets may be reserved by calling Theatre Hopkins' box office at (410) 516-7159 or email: thehop@jhu.edu.
