Re: Technology CEO to address "Risk-Taking in the Post WorldCom Era"

Without effective risk taking, businesses and other organizations can stagnate. But how do we move forward in the aftermath of corporate scandals that have illuminated the devastating effects of reckless corporate gambling, often fueled by arrogance and greed? The leader of a worldwide technology consulting firm, Ralph W. Shrader, takes on this challenging topic as the first speaker in this year's Johns Hopkins Distinguished Lecture Series.

Shrader is chairman and chief executive officer of Booz Allen Hamilton, a technology consulting firm with 11,000 employees on six continents. He will speak at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7 in the Kenney Auditorium at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, 1740 Massachusetts Ave., in Washington. Shrader's speech is entitled, "Risk-Taking and Responsibility in the Post- WorldCom Era."

The event is open to all Johns Hopkins faculty, students, staff and alumni, but closed to the general public. Interested members of the media are invited to attend. For information, please contact Bernadine Johnson at 202-518- 1277.

The Distinguished Lecture Series for the 2002-2003 academic year, sponsored by the Graduate Division of Business and Management in the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education, continues in the spring semester.
