Evergreen House, Upper Gardens Audience members are encouraged to bring picnic suppers to the outdoor performances. The grounds open at 5:30 p.m., and the performances start at 6:45. Tickets for all performances are $15 at the door, $5 for children under 12. This comedy focuses on two young noblemen whose friendship is threatened when they become rivals for the same sweetheart. While the main plot suggests elements found in later plays, including Romeo and Juliet, and Twelfth Night, this play also is famous for Shakespeare's most famous canine character, Crab, the dog belonging to roguish servant Launce, one of Shakespeare's most memorable comic characters. The title roles are played by Neal Freeman as Proteus and Morgan Stanton as Valentine. Lauren Spencer-Harris, as Julia, and Molly Moores, as Silvia, are their sweethearts. Tony Colavito appears as Launce, owner of the mischievous Crab. Hopkins staff member Rob Douglas appears as Sir Eglamour. Also in the cast is Loren Dunn, who has just completed his freshman year at the university and worked with visiting faculty member, alumnus and actor John Astin.
