"The Book Guys,"
Local Authors, Rare Books and More:
The Peabody Library Antiquarian Book Fair
The George Peabody Library Antiquarian Book Fair, sponsored
by the Friends of the
Johns Hopkins University Libraries, will be held from 11 a.m. to
7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, and Sunday, Sept. 24, in conjunction with the Baltimore Book
Festival. The Peabody
Library, located at 17 E. Mount Vernon Place, is one of
Baltimore's historic architectural
treasures and offers a perfect setting to talk with antiquarian
book dealers, shop for rare and
collectible editions, and to receive free appraisals of
collectible books.
Returning for the second year to Peabody's Antiquarian Book
Fair are "The Book
Guys," WBJC 91.5 FM's Allan Stypeck and Mike Cuthbert. The duo
will appear at the
Peabody Library on Saturday, Sept. 23, from noon to 2:00 p.m. to
record two live shows
for their nationally syndicated call-in radio program. During
the hour prior to the recording
session, books brought in by the audience will be reviewed and
appraised in order to find
materials for the show. The focus of the broadcast will be rare
books on music history. "The
Book Guys" is broadcast locally at 8 p.m. on Saturdays on WBJC.<

Throughout the weekend, the Antiquarian Book Fair will also
host local authors
Stephen Vicchio, John Irwin, Frank Shivers and Miles Harvey as
well as experts in book
collecting and book preservation. See schedule of events
