News Release
Author/editor Mame Warren will present "From Gilman to Greatness," an illustrated lecture on the 125-year history of The Johns Hopkins University, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 5:30 p.m. in Shriver Hall Auditorium on the university's Homewood campus at 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. The lecture is based on Warren's just-published book, Johns Hopkins: Knowledge for the World, commissioned by the university for its 125th anniversary celebration all during this academic year. Warren will show selections from the more than 400 color and black-and-white photographs in the book, including some images never previously published. She will also recount stories told by some of the 60 people whose oral histories she recorded while researching the book. Warren is an oral historian and the author and editor of seven previous books about Maryland, Baltimore, the Chesapeake Bay, and other subjects. The lecture is co-sponsored by Friends of the Johns Hopkins University Libraries and the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association. The event is free and open to the public. A reception and book signing will follow. Contact Kathy Davis at 410-516-8327 for information.
