During Its Celebration of Spring Explore the traditional, medicinal, culinary and decorative uses of herbs during Homewood: An Aromatic Spring, a celebration of herbs in the early American home, from Tuesday, May 9, through Sunday, May 14, at Homewood House Museum, 3400 N. Charles Street, in Baltimore. Guests touring Homewood House will learn how herbs were used during the Federal Period at Homewood in food preparation, in cosmetics and even in insect repellent. Touch the Earth, an aromatherapy store located in Canton, will offer guests the opportunity to make and take home simple herbal products like individually scented lip balm, bath salts and a sachet. Homewood will also offer an "Essential Oils Workshop" from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 12, with Theresa Mueller, owner of Touch the Earth. Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch; herbal tea will be provided. Admission to the workshop is $6 adults, $5 seniors, $3 students and includes materials and a tour of Homewood House. On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, from noon to 4 p.m., Homewood House honors mothers with free admission and the opportunity to make an herbal Mother's Day gift. Homewood House Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
